Where does self confidence come from? How can we get it? Why don’t I have it? The solution to all these questions can be answered with one word you! Self confidence starts with you, your perception of yourself, and what other people think about your actions or behavior.
For many of us, a scarcity of self confidence only has an impact on our high ambitions. You might have always wanted to get up on stage, or to be a professional singer or actor for instance. Maybe your life dream is to travel the world, visit different nations or towns, but you do not have the self confidence to do it. For others, the issue of self confidence is much more close to home – in the office, business conferences, public speaking events or displays.
Self confidence issues affect most of us at one point, and we are able to sometimes find methods of getting round the problem. Avoidance is one method we frequently use – if we are able to get out of a threatening situation we will make up excuses not to take part. Nonetheless there are times when we can’t get out of it, or we really don’t want to. If a scarcity of self confidence is preventing you from doing trying something new, or from succeeding in your working life, it’s time to sort it out.
The starting point in improving your self confidence is understanding what causes the difficulty. Low self confidence, not believing in yourself or your capability, feeling inadequate compared to your colleagues or mates or maybe a kind of shock from your adolescence are all contributory elements. By inspecting the reasons for your low self confidence, you are halfway there!
Taking positive action to triumph over your fears is the very next step to help boost your self confidence. An easy way to do this is by taking on tiny challenges. You have allowed your cerebral cortex to associate certain events or actions with fear, so you’ve already pre-empted the outcome of these scenarios.
When you’ve finished your first small challenge, congratulate yourself on achieving your aim. A small reward can frequently help. You’re already on the right path to improving your self confidence, so you’re ready to take it to the next higher level. This needn’t be a massive task; you do not need to undo all the excellent work.

This question was asked of me recently when I was recounting my journey from a shy, quiet, and socially awkward boy to an outgoing, fun-loving, and confident man. It occurred to me that while I had figured out how to nurture my own self-confidence, others are struggling with theirs every day.
I don’t like this at all.Everyone deserves to be self-confident and happy with themselves. You live with your perception of yourself 24/7 and it pervades every aspect of your life. If you are unhappy with yourself then it will manifest across your life – jobs that you hate, relationships that are no good for you, and friends that aren’t very good friends.
Have a vision. If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there. You should have a clear vision of your goal. What does self-confidence mean to you? Who do you want to become? When will you know that you are self-confident?
Write down all qualities that you need to develop in yourself to become a truly confident person. It’s also a great idea to imagine your ideal lifestyle in every detail – where you live, with whom, what you do on a daily basis etc. Having a clear vision of your future life will make you more self-confident and more focused on your goals.
Join a gym and start working out, start jogging, take up a new sport (extreme sports, martial arts etc.). Join some interesting classes (dance, cooking etc.), join Toastmasters, start learning a new language, acquire some new skills. Start traveling more (traveling alone will extremely improve your self-confidence).
The richer your life is, the more confident you feel. The more you experience, the bigger your comfort zone is. And that means that you’re getting more confident with every new experience. Take action – the world is waiting for you!
Unsure where to begin? Just pretend that you are a crazy groupie (your number-one fan) who is so ridiculously in love with you that they think that everything you do is awesome. Then start writing all the good things down with that completely biased point of view. The positive should start to flow soon enough.Example affirmations from my past.
But I cannot expect you to actually do this if I don’t lead the way can I? So I dug through my old notebooks to find some of the early affirmations I wrote. Here are some samples,I am a sexy, smart, and funny man.I give myself permission to be the person I want to be.I am cool, calm, and confident. I am always in control.I am so talented that I can do ANYTHING I want to.I deserve great relationships and fantastic friends. My life is great!
After you have undergone these steps, you should be ready to commit yourself to success. Obligate your self that you will confidently stand out there and deliver your speech like there is no tomorrow. Do this with willingness. Forcing your self to commit will not help. To be more exciting, try orally promising to yourself in front of the mirror that you will do your part with the best of your abilities. Good luck!
Journalism English and Writing Skills provides educational materials on Campus Journalism, Writing, the four English skills namely Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening. If you are reading this, it’s because you want to know how to build self confidence.
There are in fact a multitude of ways to build up your confidence. You will surely find a number of tips and techniques on the web all talking about boosting your confidence. Today, however, I want to focus on just one very powerful way you can build your confidence up.
This technique needs no special knowledge, no costly self help programs or special device. All this technique calls for is your willingness to grow your confidence and an open mind. What is this technique that I speak of? It is self affirmations. What is a self affirmation, you ask?
It is simply a positive statement that you say to yourself on a regular basis. WHAT? O.K. don’t get all excited. This really does work. Let me explain how.
Get to know yourself. Taking time to relax and calm down is a great way of finding yourself. Many people have difficulties spending time with themselves. I say you should spend a lot more time alone, with only your own company. This is a great way to get to know yourself better.
If you always rush and always need to be in someone elses company you miss the chance to get to know a big part of yourself. When you get to know your real self better you will find new things about yourself, things you can bring with you when you go out and meet other people. This will increase your self-confidence.
Create something in stillness. When you spend time alone and in stillness you feed your creative vein. Why do you think many poets, artists, authors, musicians spend time alone? Because the loneliness gives them the chance to create from the inside. Why do you think people are destroying the world today?
Because they are in such a hurry all the time so they dont see the beauty of the world. When you calm down and walk slowly all the beauty of the world will reveal itself to you.
Examples of self affirmations.I am confident in all that I do.When I look in the mirror, I see a confident able person looking back at me.I set achievable goals and I reach them easily.I am good at my job and others readily acknowledge this fact.I move confidently in the direction of my dreams.I look and feel great.I am strong and confident and I learn from my mistakes.
I give and receive love freely.I am grateful for all the many blessings in my life and I have lots of them.I am confident in my ability to treat others with respect and in return, they treat me with respect. The above is just a short list of affirmations you can use to boost your confidence.
You can use one of these affirmations I have provided here in this article or you can create your own. Just remember when you create your own affirmations, they need to be stated in the present tense and they need to be made with positive language.
This article only addresses how to build self confidence using affirmations. There are plenty of other ways to build up your confidence. Affirmations are surely one very powerful way and should be included in any efforts for building your confidence, but remember there are several things you can do to build up your confidence.

Low confidence is not being able to state the obvious; it is whimpering when you are giving the opportunity to lay your claims, you always end up worried behind the scene, throwing dirt on your skin. Women yearn for tough and confident guys; guys that know what they are doing so if you want to get the right girl you are dreaming about you need to have self confidence. Here are three major moves to make to build your self esteem, to be able to pass all the test of women. Women test men in relationships, you know those days they refuse to pick your calls and those days she shows up after you have waited for hours, you know those times she plays all those girl games and have you calling every other minutes just to make sure you don’t lose her? Well, those are how women test men.And if you need to effectively by-pass this sort of tests you need to eliminate inferiority complex, how?
ACCEPT YOURSELF AND BELIEVE YOU CAN. This is the first step to self discovery, some guys just keep thinking they would be more confident if they can only add an inch to their height or if they could just change their color or size but the truth is that there is almost nothing you can do about your height, color and size except accepting them as the component of the real you. You are the real you, you just need to accept yourself and the world around you will accept you too.
One more simple little action to take to help you feel good and build confidence. Cut down on the amount of junk foods and processed foods. As well as being nutritionally poor, they can leave you feeling sluggish and tired. Eat the best fresh food you can, it’s another way of respecting yourself and remember: Garbage in, garbage out.You deserve to eat much better than garbage. Unleash Your Power – You have the power of choice and the quality of your life will be determined by the choices you make. So unleash your power and choose to be self confident. Create a positive environment around yourself by reading positive affirmations on waking. Watch motivating videos on You Tube and search for positive blogs and websites to gain even more inspiration.
DISCOVER YOUR INNER POTENTIALS – GET SKILLS. Most people that are successful at delivering a particular project have a way of doing it, the guys that are good with women have a particular way of approaching them, they know a secret the average guy doesn’t know, if you have to stand and address a crowd tomorrow morning, learn what you have to say. I know the feelings kicks in when you stand before them, no problem, first do your homework and nature would help you fix the rest.If you need to build your self confidence you need to develop your inner potentials, you must be good at something, at least one thing, learn about it till you are perfect. The most ugly girl in my school happens to be the most intelligent in her class and she was accepted and respected and she doesn’t need to worry about her looks when she have other ways of making it up.
Be Decisive – Take a decision then resolve to follow through with it. Don’t look for the approval or permission of others. Make the decision to do something that you want to do and then take action to get it done. Being decisive is part of being a confident, assured person who knows what they want to do and takes action to get it.Start small at first, for example, set a goal to exercise three times a week, changing to a healthier diet or starting the day in a positive manner and then move to bigger goals as your confidence to make decisions and follow through with them improves.
